No trip to Tokyo is complete without visiting Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist Temple Sensoji. Attracting millions of visitors a year Senso-ji and the surrounding areas are a must visit!
Located at Asakusa you can visit here after maybe taking the Himiko water bus from Odaiba also easy reach to visiting Tokyo Sky Tree and Kappabashi (see other pages)
I would suggest starting your visit across the road at the tourist information centre a relatively new building made of wooden slats. Here you can go to the viewing deck and look out on to views of Nakamise Dori . A 250 meter line of stall (around 89) selling anything from swords to wagashi chopsticks to yukata.
When you first approach the Great Kaminarimon Thunder gate it is the first thing you go through and a prime photo spot.
walking up Nakamise Dori there are lots of souvenir shops but I found them a little expensive.
Senso-ji is also a lovely place at night so I recommend going more than once .
Now the Sky Tree has been built it’s a back drop of old and new.
You could get lost in all the under cover shopping arcades near by.
And the beautiful grounds are lovely to walk around
If you looking for tasteful souvenirs I would recommend the Ekimise department store near the cross roads at the bridge if you go to the 7th floor there is a design gallery of traditional crafts . There is even a rooftop terrace . Here you can a even a Ninja experience with throwing stars.
