Around an hours train ride from Kyoto is Osaka. I decided to take a day trip here and visit a few famous highlights.
First was Osaka Castle with its park and grounds, it is a good place to visit in the spring time due to having over 600 cherry trees.
There is a path around the moat and stone walls of the castle and people seam to come here for sports recreation jogging etc and walking
There are many artifacts inside the castle and the 50 meter high observation deck gives panoramic views of the city.
After lunch at Paprika (see review), I decided to visit the Umeda Sky building. Completed in 1993 the two story towers are connected by two crossing escalators. The lift up is a little scary but the views are amazing from the rooftop floating garden observatory.
Lastly no trip to Osaka is complete with out visiting Dotonburi.
Running along the canal from Dotonburi bridge to Nipponbashi bridge . Famous for the mechanical moving restaurant signs and Glico Running man billboard . “The icon of Osaka” this place is full of neon signs and is a popular nightlife spot
Other places to visit if you have time could be Shitennoji Temple, Shinsekai and Namba Parks. If you are spending a few days here I would recommending purchasing a two day siteseeing pass that will get you into lots of attractions .
